OC is always inventive and experimental and this season focused their lense on nostalgia.
The Fall 2015 collection featured the ease and effortless cool of Spike Jonze photography in iconic prints. Silhouettes AND attitudes were confident, as exemplified in the modern aesthetic of graphic, printed nails in unexpected pairings.
Two of the three nail looks were inspired by the classic Kodak color bars and four color printing process for perfect color calibration.
The styles are called: "CMYK" -
representing the four classic color
categories in perfectly precise striped
patterns intricately hand painted
on each nail. All nails were shaped
to medium length soft squares and
articulated in two distinct patterns:
The vertical stripe is more masculine,
with black as the base and clean
primaries on either side.
The horizontal stripe leans more
feminine, with a brighter, more
vibrant color pallet.
The CMYK colors were polished in
VINULUX® Weekly Polish in:
'C' - (cyan) Seaside Party
'M' - (magenta) Wildfire and Rock
Royalty
'Y' - (yellow) Bicycle Yellow
'K' - (registered black) Black Pool
Plus saturated tones of white (Cream
Puff) and grey (Asphalt) to complete
the design.
All colors popped 3-D on a base of clean, bright Cream Puff white.
The third look was a film strip nail we call 'Homage'... named to honor the Spike Jonze photographic inspirational montage of skater friends captured in action. Our ace nail team featured a different piece of the montage on each nail and then decoupaged it onto a Cream Puff base with CND® Super Shiney™. The image was framed with a handpainted film strip meticulously placed on each nail.
270 hours... a football field of striping tape and enormous focus and passion made these nails truly unique and extraordinary!!!
