Rodarte Spring 2013 Runway Show – Modern Medieval Nails

Rodarte Fashion Week Spring 2013

The Rodarte show has become the most anticipated show of Fashion Week. The California-based sister design-duo has soared to fame with their couture approach to the everyday uniform: layers of jacquard and brocade created structural silhouettes; amazing intricate breastplates fashioned over delicate strapless dresses; molded short skirts grounded by the chunkiest heel in a computer print with ski boot front.

The ‘Modern Medieval’ story was pushed all the way to every last detail: the medieval manicures were woven strips of custom-blended polish that were then mattefied. The unique mani was created using CND Colours in Desert Suede, Frosting Cream and Chocolate Milk over a base blend of high shine CND Colours in Desert Suede and Frosting Cream. Each nail tip required fifteen minutes to make by hand and the 30 total sets of nails for the show took over 150 hours.
