How to Create Medal-worthy CND Shellac Nail Looks

CND Olypmic Medal Nail Looks

While the world watched female Olympians demonstrate incredible strength, determination and skill during the most recent Games, we were watching for something a bit less obvious: their nails!

That’s because during the games, athletes in the Olympic and Paralympic Villages had the opportunity to receive complimentary 14 day+, superior shine CND Shellac manicures and pedicures, courtesy of UK professional beauty distributor, Sweet Squared.

To celebrate the occasion, we also created two medal-worthy nail looks, Olympic Gold & Olympic Spirit.  We used CND Additives straight out of the jar, burnished into CND Shellac Power Polish to develop two one-of-a kind looks that are so easy and quick for nail professionals to create. Here’s how we did it!

Olympic Spirit:

CND Olympic SpiritCND Supplies: Shellac Base coat, Shellac Cream Puff, Shellac Top coat, CND Additives: Yellow pigment, Cerulean blue, Bright red pigment, CND ProSeries Gel Flat Oval Brush and a CND UV Lamp

Art Supplies: 99% Isopropyl Alcohol, Tubing

1. P.E.P. the natural nail (For details see our “CND Shellac Step-by-Steps)

2. Apply a thin layer of Shellac Base Coat and cure for 10 minutes in the CND UV Lamp.

3. Apply two thin layers of Shellac Cream Puff. Cure each layer for two minutes.

4. Dip the tip of a dry Oval Brush into the Yellow Pigment and burnish it into the sticky Shellac, creating the desired shape. Repeat with red and blue.

5. Mix Additives and isopropyl alcohol (to create a water color paste) on a mixing tray to create the Olympic circles’ colors.

6. Dip the end of the tubing in the Blue and stamp a circle onto the nail. Lock for 10 seconds.  (perfect circles as needed by dipping a detail brush into the additive paste and drawing in as needed)

7. Clean the tubing and repeat with the rest of the colors until you create the desired design. Cure for two minutes.

8. Apply a thin layer of Shellac Top Coat and cure for two minutes.

9. Wipe with 99% Isopropyl Alcohol to remove top film.
