The Fashion Week process begins! It's two weeks before NYC fashion week and I'm here in New York to work with designers to identify the best looks to compliment their vision for their Spring/Summer 2010 runway show. For me, this is the most exciting part of the entire process because it's true creative collaboration! We start with them explaining their inspiration and ideas. We look at the fabrics, the silhouettes and their vision board. The fun begins! They talk, I sketch. Roxanne paints. We all have a job to do.
This visit was the best, because we had all 50 of our new creme Colours and 15 Effects...it was like being in art class. We were all going crazy with combinations.
I met with:
1. Diego Benetti: sophisticated, refined craftsmanship, total style vision
2. Twinkle: known for her extraordinary knits, wearable, fun and chic
3. Ruffian: avante garde, uber-cool and high quality (see September Elle, featuring their ruffled cashmere jacket)
4. Victor DeSouza: high end precise couture (see September cover of Italian Vogue featuring Rihanna in Victor's designs!)
5. 3as4: true visionary artists, show inspired (and attended by) Yoko Ono
And next work on Baby Phat inspirations...more to come!!!!!!
