...we LOVE Philip Lim! Not just because he's smart, savvy and totally GETS nails, but because he is truly a nice guy. Just fun to work with and creative in his aesthetic. Philip was the first designer to adopt custom nail color and his ideas became the inspiration for some of our best selling colors. There's no mystery here, as he is one of the designers in this tough economy to give women a reason to shop! He continues to have excellent sell-through for his clothes and accessories at store level because he makes clothes that women want to wear. They aren't priced crazy high and his fabrics are comfortable to wear and machine washable to clean. How smart is that? This collection featured easy, breezy suits and separates that can boost your spirits and not break the bank. His obsession this season with reptiles produced a beautiful subtle texture in trenches and jackets. OK, OK enough about that...WHAT ABOUT THE NAILS? You all are going to LOVE the nails: 'Oil Slick' base (my personal favorite nearly black dark blur/green) with 'Gold Sparkle' down ONE SIDE of each nail, to give a deconstructed texture. Everything was illuminated with AirDry topcoat to pump up the statement. The net effect was extremely complimentary to his overall, highly acclaimed collection!

...next, on to the Milly show, who's known for her fun and brightly colored dresses, mini shorts and wide sleeved jackets with playful big buttons...but his season she threw everyone for a loop by building the collection around the color BLACK! The look was preppy meets punk and the show was the official debut of her costume jewelry collection featuring big bangles and over sized necklaces. But of course, we have to acknowledge her allegiance to the finishing elements of NAILS! To balance the strength of the dark plate and huge jewels, the nails maintained a purely feminine touch with the gorgeous sheer 'Marshmallow' pink with a nice slathering of Air Dry top coat to make them play brightly with the hot spotlights of the runway. All the models wore cute ankle socks with sky high platforms...hummmm...wonder what great color was hiding once the socks and shoes came off! My guess is something typically Milly bright and fun!

...the team now convenes to finish the nails for the final show of the week (3as4)....we're all relieved but also a little sad to see the week end.

More...tomorrow!
