Baby Phat Show
...Kimora Lee Simmons knows how to put on a show...in every way! She has the best stylist: Isabel Dupre, the best hair artist: Odile, the best make-up (our buddies at MAC)...and unquestionably the BEST NAIL TEAM!!! CND! All nails have been pre-made and perfectly detailed. Kimora wanted high shine solid 24K gold on fingers and sheer gold on toes. The team has (Cami) foiled each and every nail...not a wrinkle in the bunch! We love the thinness of Cami, as it 'stretches' over the curve of our tips thinly and evenly....and it provides the mirror finish precision Baby Phat seeks. Then on toes, we use 'Gold Chrome'...the perfect 24K gold, diluted in 'Air Dry' for high shine, liquid perfection.
We all get here early, as this is THE 'party' of the week. It seems Kimora got some good funding to simulcast the show on the Jumbo-Tron in Times Square...AND 'E' is covering it from start to finish. Four different camera crews for ...the Reality show...the Times Square simulcast...'E!' and the Clear channel...Kimora definitely has it going on!
Meanwhile, there are bods galore backstage. Words out that there are 'Beef Cake Eye Candy' walking the show in...jeans...with toenails gilded by Team CND...tough assignment, but someone's gotta do it! ....oh yes, just got confirmation that said 'eye candy' is in the house. Bless Kimora.
Anyway...the music (base) is thundering and we all feel it in our vertebrae. Rox and I run out to front of house to see what's happening and see the rehearsal for the close of the show in action. See my video 'reporting' as the chaos unfolds...just minutes before the show.
Just as I'm on a roll doing my best to be the 'Diane Sawyer' of NAILS...Julia from Red is beaconing to RUN backstage......as Kim (I now just call her Kim, given our BFF friendship from earlier today) - Kardshian-...has arrived to do a beauty report on BP. No problem...I grab a 'strip of gold nuggets' and run to the site of action central...the crush of photographers. I join (the tiniest little gorgeous person on the planet) to talk nails.
Loving her ever more as she gushes over the nails and insists on getting them applied by Rox as we speak. She comes alive with her new found golden digits and mugs for the camera!....all on the Jumbo-Tron in Times Square!
A few more interviews...most notable with OUR FAVORITE Mikki Taylor from Essence and another with Seventeen TV!
....time to take our seats, as the show promises to ONLY start 45 minutes late.....
One hour late...lights dim.....I actually thought it was my brain fading to dark...thank god NOT...the show begins.
I feel the music in my toes...I see 'Ice T' and his porn star girlfriend sitting just a little down from me...across the runway are some of the housewives from Atlanta. I'm sure there are more VIP's here but now the lights are blinding!
All I can say is that the NAILS WERE TO DIE FOR! Clothes were casual, SEXY SHORT denim and tons of gold accessories. But honestly, for me, the nails were the highlight.
GET THIS LOOK: by buffing nails with girlfriend buffer, apply Stickey base Coat, Super Shiney top coat, 2 coats of 'Gold Chrome' Colour and one coat 'Super Shiney'.
End the night with a bite of sushi and head back to the hotel with visions of nails to come tomorrow...Philip Lim 3.1 always does the coolest nails. Actually, a visionary in the area.
