Its Monday.....weather's still beautiful and it's so much easier to get around town!
Obama's in NYC today, the US Open Tennis championship finals start today and, yes fashion week continues...traffic will be a nightmare!
The best thing about fashion week? The creativity and collaboration between our team and the designers AND the recognition of nails as a true fashion accessory!
The worst thing about fashion week? BLISTERS!! It is impossible to run from show to show in crazy platforms with out a few huge blisters. The key? A box of
Band-aids in the bag at all times.
OK...now for today's action:
The Carolina Herrera show backstage prep is always a huge press-favorite event but always very much under control. Carolina herself is the most refined and graceful lady and she set the same tone as the beauty team prepares for her show. Carolina designs gowns for the red carpet and social circuit. She is revered as an icon in fashion and soon to be seen in the 'Got Milk' ad campaign! So, every few years she veers away from her standard 'sheer' manicure...and this is the year for an exciting an directional color! The nails are a smoky, mauvey purple cream...created by layering 'BlackJack' (ink black) as the first coat, followed by 'Muddy Rose' and finished with Air Dry top coat or shine. The look is a little rock n' roll and a lot romantic. It looks great with dark smoky eyeliner and the gorgeous fabrics in brick, redwood, quartz, rose and amethyst......all colors that capture the waning light of a desert sunset. Fingers and toes match here...and this season in general. The basket weave of a Japanese basket is reflected in the shoes, belts and in the clothes for an intricate and refined look.
....Run to Victor DeSouza show, which will be an exhibition in a Gallery space called EX. Victor's designs were just featured on the cover of Italian Vogue, worn by Rihanna! He is a brilliant designer and a visionary stylist. He sees every detail when he first imagines the design. NAILS are always an integral part of this vision......I gotta run...more soon on Victor!!!
